*life*
have you ever just stopped and thought about how amazing it is that we are alive?
I was listening to my dad speak last night at my youth group and he was talking about a book called crazy love by Francis Chan. He spoke about how absolutely amazing it is that we live on this earth, this round ball of dirt and whatnot that spins incredibly fast and we go through each day like its no big deal.We go through each day like its completely normal and safe for something to be turning at a extremely fast speed with other objects (like that huge ball in the sky we like to call the sun). Have you ever stopped and marveled that in the middle of every single rain drop is a tiny speck of dust and that is why it forms the shape it does? Have you ever stopped and compared two snowflakes? No snowflake has a replica. There is only one kind of that one snowflake. Amazing, huh? and just stop and think. there is absolutely no way that this stuff, everything could have come from no where. God is such an amazing creator!

just thinking
have you ever stopped and wondered why is it that in the winter when we have temperatures that dip down into the negatives we wish for the heat of the summer. yet when we find the degrees climbing higher and higher in the summer we wish for the coolness of winter. why is that? why is it that in the soft springy-ness and freshness of spring we don't wish for the cool wind and bright clear skies of fall? or just where God stores all that rain and snow? why does an airplane stay in the sky, because it doesn't seem like it should. where does all the water in the ocean come from? have you ever stopped and marveled at the fact that God loves you--no matter what you've done and that he created us for his glory? just thinking.

lifes happenings lately
| dress to impress or just to embarrass. points for class. crazy games. who's gonna win? juniors or seniors? freshmen or sophomores? this week at RHS is spirit week. So far it has consisted of sport day, music day, character day, and today was decade day. I decided to humor my mother and dress like I was from the eighties. and yes, it was complete with big hair and a "Save Farris" pin. It has been such a fun week for me as I have never experienced spirit week in a high school before. You may wonder why I decided to write on this topic.... well here's why. | ||||||||||
| Last friday I was told that I would be unable to attend our end of the week pep rally because I'm not considered a registered student at my school( I also take three classes at home so they considered me a home-schooler.) So my friend Brandon decided to start a petition on facebook so that I would be able to attend. As of right now there are 60 people that are supporting me in this cause. "hey abby are you going to the pep rally on friday???" thats been the question that seems to be looming in the air around me all week long. and my answer was "I just don't know yet!" that was until today anyways. today I was called into the office as I was leaving. They told me that I'd be able to attend tomorrow! thanks to all of my supporters and see you at the pep rally s | ||||||||||

love.love.love
love.love.love. here are some quotes on love :)
love each other and you will be happy. its as simply and as difficult as that.
"When you are in Love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams." Dr.Seuss
We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
love each other and you will be happy. its as simply and as difficult as that.
"When you are in Love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams." Dr.Seuss
We were given: Two hands to hold. To legs to walk. Two eyes to see. Two ears to listen. But why only one heart? Because the other was given to someone else. For us to find.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

seasons
Seasons Everywhere
Softly drifting to the ground, great white snowflakes all around
Hands of darkness creeping in, stealing breath from the day
Rivers frozen, trees are bare-this is winter almost everywhere.Blooming blossoms, chirping birds soaring all the day
Flowers bright and lovely stretching faces to the skies
White buds on trees turning to green spread their hands so wide
breezes blowing, excitement's growing
this is springtime everywhere
Heat of day, coolness of night
Raindrops falling oh what delight!
Red,white and blue-
Oh my, what a sight!
Fears of life all to soon forgotten.
Waves are breaking on the shore
this is summertime everywhere
Beautiful canopy painted with colors
so pure, so amazing, such simple perfection.
Clear, crisp, bright cloudless azure skies.
Hayrides, apples dropping, cider mulling and pumpkin pies
Leave piles, animals hiding winter is creeping in
slowly but surely our good times come to end
Laughter and smiles are forever without care
This is autumn everywhere

.love is.
Love waits for you to finish talking just so it can walk you to your car. It saves you a seat even if you don’t think they’ll come. It’s showing up unexpectedly to surprise you. It holds your hand while you face the most challenging things. It helps you learn things you never thought you’d be able to know. It comes to make cookies on a Saturday afternoon flicking dough and flour everywhere making it an something you won’t soon forget. Its there to catch you when your falling. It whispers in your ear how beautiful you look even when you’re wearing sweats and your hairs in a ponytail. It tells you its secrets. It would give you the world if it could. It shows you how to smile even when you think you’ll never know how to again. It loves you no matter what. It never fails.

simply life.
life.life.life. so much has changed since the beginning of the year starting with the fact that in a few months my family will be moving... we're at about 65 percent now and we need to be at 80 percent in order to move.. yikes! its such an exciting-bittersweet emotion.. definitely not something that you experience every day!!!
as my senior year is coming up, i had to register for the dreaded S.A.T.'s which im taking on may 1st... another "yikes"... along with the whole senior thing also comes the college searches... and registering for your senior classes....and applying for jobs....and driving insane amounts simply because you have to fill in forty hours to get your license haha...senioritus begins to kick in a little to early. BUT i was informed by my guidance counselor at RHS, where i attend part time now, that for my senior year(if im still here) i can attend full time!!! which is definitely a HUGE thing...

guatemala baby...
OK so basically my family is at 65%.. 70% on a good day. And we need to be at 80% in order to start looking at our out of country tickets and to start registering for school and such. Which pretty much means that we will be doing all of that this summer, or before the start of my senior year. Shocking? some may say. Exciting? I think so! Bittersweet? yea that's the most common answer I've gotten so far. I can't wait to move down there and work with the people there and serve the Lord. The people of this country are beautiful and need to be shown God's love and compassion as the rest of the world needs to be shown as well. If you want to know more about what we'll be doing down there or to learn more about the organization that we will be working with check out my moms blog!!! she's way better at explaining this than I am. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated. Please pray that we get there quickly and safely!!! I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and serve the Lord however you can-even if its something like standing strong in your faith, it will impact the people you come in contact with daily more than you know. There's the blog link :)

guatemala
guatemala. or gwodomala which is what my 5-yr old sister affectionately calls me. whatever you decide to call it (guatemala being the correct way, haha), this is the place i will soon be calling home. The place of constant spring and where the people grow coffee for a living. the place of poverty and wealth intertwined. My church here in Chester us sending a team to Guatemala sometime in May. I've only ever been there once-- in December of 2006 to distribute bundles of love which is essentially a new school uniform, shoes and a backpack for the children in the schools of AMG international and would love to go there again. The people there are some of the most beautiful people i have ever seen and the country is breath-taking. Most people are acquainted with Antigua which is where some rather large resorts are. but if you drive for a few hours you will come across some of the most poverty stricken areas you will ever see. I was in total shock as i went from someplace so gorgeous and put together to someplace where people lived in houses made of aluminum and cardboard. anything to keep them covered at night. children muddied and danger everywhere. The people of Guatemala are not only poor financially, but spiritually as well. They are hidden from the real truth of God. The lies of society overtake everything in their lives.

no one like you...
I was thinking today, there is absolutely no one. and when i mean no one. Like our God. He's everywhere, knows everything and has power over absolutely everything. I mean, take a look into the New Testament. The seas were in complete terror, high winds blowing, huge waves and a tiny boat. picture yourself on that boat. can you even imagine how Jesus' disciples felt? i know i'd be terrified. Jesus calmed the storm and the water was completely still. Can you even imagine, treacherous waters, howling winds, humongous waves crashing and breaking over a boat instantaneously calmed? What a powerful God we have.

a place of worship

This past weekend, once again I found myself at a place where I'm finding myself more and more. Berea. This weekend was a little different than the last one though because I went there as a camper instead of to work. As I was standing on the stage in front of the band worshiping God with my friends and other christians that were there, I found myself stopping, and just listening to the sound of Gods children singing their praises to Him. The speakers was Stuart Hall. What a great speaker! He was very much into the Word and taught the Truth and kept the attention of everyone. I found that I was looking forward to listening to him speak more and more, even if it meant sitting in uncomfortable plastic chairs for half an hour. He spoke to us about how when we accept Christ into us, we are full of His love. once its in, it wont leave us. Saturday, I decided to go out to the lake and watch the sunrise.... I didnt end up going out to the lake until about 7, so I missed the sun actually coming up over the mountains, but the colors of the sunrise reflecting onto the glassy surface of the frozen lake and stretching its rays over the earth were absolutely breath-taking. The band was called The Mark White Band and they were such a great example to all of us that were there this weekend. here are a few pics!

i love camp
This past weekend I had a great opportunity to volunteer at a camp in Hebron, NH called Camp Berea. I've worked there before and fell in love with the place the first time I went there, which was as a camper in 2005...I think=] I had always wanted to work there and when the opportunity arose, i took it. Its amazing how much stuff goes on behind the scenes in order to make two days of camp go smoothly, and when it doesnt go smoothly, it still goes amazingly well! preparing food and cleaning up after 385 campers is a challenge, but fun. I was constantly reminded through the song lyrics that the band chose(The Mark White Band) that even when everything goes wrong, God will never let go of us, He's always there. The song that they were always singing, inevitably, when i walked in was "You never let go". What an amazing song! It was stuck in my head all weekend=] I stayed in a cabin with some godly girls and they are such a great example to follow! i was so blessed to have this opportunity and can't wait to go back there this weekend for my 5th year of being a camper! If you ever have the chance to go there, take it. You learn so much about God and it is a great environment led by some very godly people.

friendships found anew
so today I went our with my dad to do some work and enjoy a coffee from this really quaint little coffee shop called the Coffee Factory. I absolutely love this place and enjoy coming here. Its a place where I've found I can just sit and enjoy... theres something thats just very, calming. the smell of coffee, the soft music playing, the murmur of people talking... im not quite sure what it is but I know that I love it. Anyways, I was sitting reading a book and trying to focus in to finish up my work, but I'd been there for hours already and was beginning to lose focus on what i was working on. So I was looking out the window at the clouds full of rain drooping about to empty themselves onto the world, and I see a friend who I havent seen in years! So we chatted for a little bit and caught up. Its funny how God knows when we need a pick-me-up, exactly when we need it.

beautiful

I see Your face in every sunrise
The colors of the morning are inside Your eyes
The world awakens in the light of the day
I look up to the sky and say
You’re beautiful
I see Your power in the moonlit night
Where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright
We are amazed in the light of the stars
It’s all proclaiming who You are
You’re beautiful, You're beautiful
I see you there hanging on a tree
You bled and then you died and then you rose again for me
Now you are sitting on Your heavenly throne
Soon we will be coming home
You’re beautiful, you're beautiful
When we arrive at eternity’s shore
Where death is just a memory and tears are no more
We’ll enter in as the wedding bells ring
Your bride will come together and we’ll sing
You’re beautiful, You're beautiful, You're beautiful
I see Your face, You're beautiful, You're beautiful, You're beautiful
I see Your face, You're beautiful, You're beautiful, You're beautiful
I see Your face, I see Your face
I see Your face, You’re beautiful, You’re beautiful, You’re beautiful

dock stairs...
my blogging days have begun!
So i decided that I'd make a blog so that those who want to follow me can! I'll try to update it as often as I can, which should be at least once a week... or so=] With this New Year have come many things, more challenging things at school, friends leaving for college, getting ready to move. Its been a fun experience so far, hopefully the Lord will give me many more joyful memories! As last year ended and this year began I started realizing a little bit more everyday what an awesome God we have. He always provides, His timing and plans are perfect(although we may think that it isn't at times), He loves us unconditionally. Its pretty cool. One of my new favorite passages in the Bible is Job 38 where God is talking to Job about everything He has created and as this year began and the snow started to fall, the night skies glittering like they were filled with diamonds and rain droplets hanging onto leaves on those "to warm for snow days", I was reminded of these verses," "Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle? What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed, or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm,to water a land where no man lives, a desert with no one in it to satisfy a desolate wasteland and make it sprout with grass? Does the rain have a father? Who fathers the drops of dew? From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavenswhen the waters become hard as stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen?"Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades? can you loose the cords of Orion? Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons d]">or lead out the Bear with its cubs? Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God's dominion over the earth?"Can you raise your voice to the clouds and cover yourself with a flood of water? Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, 'Here we are'?Who endowed the heart with wisdom or gave understanding to the mind? Who has the wisdom to count the clouds? Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens when the dust becomes hard and the clods of earth stick together? "
We have an awesome God, and we need to remember that he is in control no matter what happens this New Year!
